September 2012, the 14th CIOE was held successfully with the total exhibition area over 100,000 square meters. Visitors from home and abroad exceeded 80,000, which kept CIOE the largest exhibition among the industry. Various on-site activities such as the face to face sourcing meeting, new product & technology presentation, and the astronomy fancier salon light up the event with more vitality and fun.

The 13th CIOE (CIOE 2011) successfully finished at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center on September 9, 2011. Besides the co-located Global Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components, the Chinese Optical So¬ciety Annual Conference which is regarded as the top class and largest academic conference in the optics industry in China, was held concurrently with CIOE 2011 for the first time. Over the four-day show, a total of 68,216 buyers from 65 countries attended the year’s most important op-toelectronic event, with an increase of 4.4% compared with last year. Among them, overseas buyers have increased to 16,285 and accounted for 24%, weighing heavily in total amount. 

September 2010, the 12th China International Optoelectronic Expo was held successfully in Shenzhen with the exhibition area over 80,000 square meters. More than 2,500 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions participated in CIOE 2010. During the four days, 65,318 buyers and professional visitors from 57 countries and regions attended this great event.

March 2010, eMedia Asia Ltd, a company under the branch of Global Sources, became CIOE international partner. With their widespread overseas marketing network, eMedia Asia and Global Sources will help CIOE explore its oversea market and be developed into a truly renowned international event.

September 2009, despite that the optoelectronic industry was severely influenced by the financial turmoil, the 11th China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE) was successfully held as scheduled and the exhibition area even extend to 70,000sqm. At the same time, the CIOE team together with National Science and Technology Awarding Office held the National Science and Technology Achievement (Optoelectronic) Exhibition. It was also in this year that CIOE team started to organize professional LED and applied optics forum as well as the China Optoelectronic Industry Investment conference.

Around 2009 Spring Festival, CIOE management team launched the second large-scale “VISIT” tour. CIOE team visited total 251 Optoelectronic research institutes and manufacturers. This VISIT tour last for one month. Through this trip, the CIOE team had a better understanding of the actual demand of the optoelectronic manufacturers as well as the impact of financial crisis on the optoelectronic industries. This was renowned as “CIOE second Long March” in the optoelectronic industry.

September 2008, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the CIOE, a 10th Anniversary Reception was held on the evening of September 6, 2008. The CIOE presidium awarded the “CIOE Special Contribution Prize” to thank optoelectronic professionals for their great contributions to the development of the Chinese optoelectronics industry and for their continuous support to CIOE.

September 2007, the exhibition area of the 9th China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE) hit another record high, reaching 65,000 sqm. More than 60,000 professional visitors attended the event.

March 2007, Shenzhen Herong Exhibition Industry Co., Ltd., the organizer of CIOE, reached cooperative agreement with Business Media China AG (BMC), which gave a great impetus to the CIOE internationalization

September 2006, China Electronic and Technology Group Corporation, China North Industry Group Corporation, China South Industry Group Corporation, working as CIOE co-organizers for the first time, held the 8th China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE). The China Optoelectronic Job Fair was held concurrently, which was regarded as the first optoelectronic job fair in China.

September 2005, the 7th China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE) moved into the newly-built Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. On this edition, CIOE cooperating with its International partner, the German Koelnmesse and E.J.Klause & Association established CIOE first international exhibition zone featured with International pavilions from the U.S.A. France, U.K, Canada, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan, etc. The exhibition area broke through 60,000sqm for the first time.

August 2005, the 20th Congress of the International Commission for Optics (ICO) and China International (Changchun) Optoelectronic Exhibition was held in Changchun.

September 2004, during the period of the 6th China International Optoelectronic Expo, the 30th European Conference for Optical Communications (ECOC) was held concurrently in Sweden. CIOE originated exhibition real-time connection with ECOC. Through the live TV connection, the exhibitors, visitors and medias of CIOE and ECOC realized on-site interactive communications. In 2004, Canadian Advanced Technology Association and Korea Association for Photonics Industry Development all organized country pavilions to participate in CIOE. This was the first time for these two countries to join in CIOE in pavilions. The UK Display Technology Forum, activities of UK -China ICT Week was also held concurrently.

September 2003, the 5th CIOE was expanded again with the exhibition area reaching 50,000 sqm. Its exhibition area exceeded the OFC, and became the world’s largest optoelectronic exposition every since then..

March 2003, the CIOE management team launched its first large scale VISIT tour, and visited more than 100 optoelectronic enterprises to investigate IT industry recovery and development after its “Bubble Burst”, so as to have a better understanding of the enterprises’ demand and prospects of the industry.

March 2003, Optical Fiber Communication International Conference (OFC2003) was held in Atlanta, USA. CIOE and Shenzhen Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau co-organized a Shenzhen delegation to participate in OFC 2003. Prof. Su Jihong, executive vice chairman of CIOE (Present Honorable Chairman) made a keynote speech at the 2003 China Forum Seminar.

September 2002, the exhibition area of the 4th China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE) was over 30,000 square meters, which exceeded the Japan FOE and became the largest optoelectronic exhibition in Asia. And CIOE set Financial Trade Zone for the first time. Many banks, insurance and security institutions were presented to provide financial service for the on-site exhibitors. The concurrent forum was China International Optoelectronic Industry Summit 2002.

April 2002, CIOE organized Shenzhen delegations to participate in Vancouver IPR/OAA international Optoelectronic Exhibition and Convention in Canada.

September 2001, the exhibition area of the 3rd China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE) reached a new record of 10,000 sqm.. More than 10 Japanese companies and 30 domestic Optoelectronic research centers joined in the exhibition, which largely expanded the exhibitors group. The 21st Century China Optoelectronic Industry Forum was held concurrently.

January 2001, many famous brands participated in the 2nd CIOE such as Photon Technology,LTT Science and Technology, Chutian Laser, HGLaser, Han’s laser, COSTER GROUP, Yudi Optics, Huaqiang Sanyo, Guangdong Optics Optics Valley, Wuhan Optics Valley etc. The 2nd CIOE also attracted many high-tech development zones, optoelectronic industrial parks, optoelectronic research centers, R&D centers and optoelectronic research institutions. The concurrent event, the 21st Century (Shenzhen) Optics and Optoelectronic Development Strategic Seminar was regarded as one of the highest optoelectronic seminar at that time. The inauguration ceremony of JDS Uniphase new factories in Shenzhen was held during the exhibition period.             

September 1999, The 1st CIOE was initiated and held at Shenzhen Hi-Tech Fair Exhibition Center. Prof. Wang Daheng, the Master of China Optics, the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited to be the Tenured Honorary Chairman of the CIOE presidium. CIOE was the first professional exhibition in Optoelectronic industry and attracted extensive attention in the industry.
