A delegation from CIOE headed by Prof. Yang Xiancheng, General Manager of the CIOE visited the Electricx Power 2008 that was opened from December 20 - 23, 2008 at Cairo International Convention Center. As a specialized Egyptian event, Electricx Power 2008 attracted many big companies such as Energya Industries, ELSEWEDY CABLES, Elios Egypt, and EGYLED.

The CIOE team talked with many exhibitors and discussed the optoelectronic development in Egypt during the three exhibition days. Through a close contact to Egyptian companies, the CIOE became acquainted with the remarkable market potential of optical communications, optics, lasers, and LED lighting in the developing South African country. With its economic and urban development, Cairo's demands of related markets will significantly increase in the upcoming years. The promotion of the CIOE during the Electricx Power was highly successful. The exhibitors showed great interest in showcasing their optoelectronic products and technology at the CIOE.

During a meeting with the Egyptian-Chinese Council, Prof. Yang Xiancheng and Ms. Nancy He, Director of the CIOE International Department discussed with Ms. Omaima Mabrouk, the Executive Manager of Egyptian-Chinese Council, opportunities of cooperation. Ms. Omaima Mabrouk expressed her great expectation in organizing an Egyptian visitor delegation to the CIOE 2009.

The CIOE delegation visited the Egyptian Exporters Association and held a business meeting with Ms. Dina Abdel Aziz, Sector Director of Engineering. Ms. Dina Abdel Aziz expressed support for the CIOE and wants to introduce the CIOE to Egyptian optoelectronic companies. She plans to organize an Egyptian delegation to participate the CIOE 2009.
